The Five Animal Frolics

The Five Animal Frolics are an ancient study in Chi Gong or life force energy.  This is the oldest set for heath and internal life force training dating to 110AD.  A written record from this time prescribed to a Dr. Hoa who admonished his patient to do a particular posture until he broke out in a sweat. The form regained popularity (in the 1980's) when a famous Chinese actress, Madame Guo Lin, attributed her remission from inoperable cancer to the practice of these exercises.

The Five Animal Frolics may be offered at Rosemeade Rec Center from time to time - please check with their schedule posted on the web for details of time.  Contact Rosemeade Recreation Center @972-466-9800

Push Hands -

This is a practice set taught only to students who have finished a tai chi form and can demonstrate their proficiency.  Push Hands is an opportunity for the serious student to move to a new level of understanding of balance and movement in the tai chi methods.  We work on development of effective techniques of internal strength and balance in a team or partnership with another student.

The 24 Step Simplified Tai Chi Form

This Tai Chi form was developed in China and authorized by the government to provide a simple morning exercise that would provide the obvious health benefits of Tai Chi to a mass audience.

Madam Wong Jerong now of Houston, Texas was one of the original committee members who contributed to this form.  I have taken instruction on the form directly with Madam Wong.

This is a great form for beginning students - it requires only 3 or 4 minutes to complete and is an excellent sub-set of the well known Yang family style Tai Chi.  I have traveled in China and you will find groups of people doing the 24 step form all over the country.  This form can be done to music.  This is one of the most popular of Tai Chi forms in the US because it is easy to learn and execute.
